Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly killed one person and abducted three passengers travelling in an 18-seater bus along the Okene-Lokoja Road.
The incident occurred on Monday at about 3pm in Aku village, Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
It was gathered that the Toyota bus (Reg. No. Benue DAP 325 LG) was on transit along the highway when the gunmen stormed the road and flagged down the vehicle, making the driver halt abruptly.

The report from the area noted that the vigilante patrol van arrived at the scene at the right time and aborted the move of the suspected kidnappers.

“Luckily for the passengers, a vehicle of the Kogi state vigilante group patrolling the highway intercepted the gunmen’s operation, leading to the exchange of firepower.
“Eventually, the gunmen fled into the bush with three of the passengers, while the driver and three others were rescued by the vigilante,” said an eyewitness, Jamiu.”
The Controller-General of the Kogi State Vigilante Services, Ibrahim Omeiza Sani, said that his men were already on the trail of the gunmen to rescue the kidnapped passengers.
The Kogi State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Aya, was contacted over the development. He has, however, not responded as of the time of filing this report.
