A prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholder in Kwara South, Mr. Olatunde Michaels Oyeyiola of Okerimi Oro in Irepodun Local Government, has urged for a united Igbomina to lead the senatorial representation of the district in 2027.
Oyeyiola said the aspiration is achievable given the level of engagement and unity among Igbomina stakeholders.
Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune, he called for fairness and inclusivity among the district’s three socio-cultural blocs – Ekiti, Ibolo and Igbomina.
“We want equal representation because we are all part of Kwara South. One or two blocs cannot represent the whole. Igbomina also wants to speak for the district, and we have all it takes to represent the people at the National Assembly,” he said.
He noted that Igbomina stock has historically held the Senate seat only once, from 1999 to 2003, while the Ekiti and Ibolo blocs would have cumulatively held it for 24 years by 2027.
Oyeyiola highlighted that Igbomina stakeholders are engaging political office holders, traditional leaders, elders, and youth groups to consolidate support.
He added that the bloc controls 40 of the 83 wards in Kwara South, giving it a strong numerical advantage.
