2027: Kwankwaso Speaks on Leaving NNPP

Former Kano State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed suggestions that he is preparing to abandon the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Addressing party leaders and members during the NNPP’s 9th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, Kwankwaso described rumours of his defection as misplaced.

“Many people thought today we will announce whether I will stay in NNPP or go to another party or join some individuals. That was not the intention of the meeting. We have our party, and we are comfortable and happy,” he told the gathering.

The former minister, however, maintained that while NNPP remains his political base, he is open to dialogue with other political stakeholders.

“We believe we have something to offer at the highest leadership level of this country. We are ready to talk to anybody, but any negotiation will be collective,” Kwankwaso stated.

Kwankwaso was affirmed as the party’s flagbearer for the 2027 presidential contest.

NNPP National Chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, made the disclosure in his opening remarks.

He described him as the “visionary leader” whose experience and popularity would drive the party’s quest for national leadership.
