Smart Adeyemi has declared that he would not take the risk of coming out to contest against Ahmed Usman Ododo, the incumbent governor of Kogi State, come 2027 gubernatorial election.
Adeyemi stated this on Monday during the unveiling of 2 HP -20 State Assist Drone at 12 Brigade headquarters, Lokoja, adding that he does know who will have the courage to do so.
He said: “You have touched lives of people positively. I don’t say what I don’t believe and when I speak, I speak my heart. And I say this again that who will have the courage? May be, somebody from Central or East, but not from West that will ever come to say they want to challenge the second term of Governor Ododo; may be; from Central not from the West.
“The 1999 Constitution as amended Section 14:2b says the primary responsibility of government is the protection of lives and property; in essence within a good society; a society where there is law to be abided by the citizens, a society where there will be infrastructural facilities, a society that aims at emancipating the people must first and fore most take care of life and property of the citizens. What you have done today is a fulfilment of that very critical Nigeria Constitution. And more importantly, you are setting the pace for your colleagues to emulate. You make me proud today as an indigene of Kogi State that in setting the pace for other governors within the North Central, but indeed the entire nation. This is indeed, called governance where you are mindful and passionate about the needs, aspirations of the people. Where you are determined to change the lives of the people.”.

According to him, “The first consideration will be how far you care about their lives, you have done enough touching a lot of areas that affect the lives of our people in rural areas; you embark on rural roads, you built cottage hospitals, schools. Time will not permit me to mention a lot of things that have endeared you to the heart of the people. For me, I just feel that your colleagues will start envying you because when I was told about this yesterday, I said so our governor is thinking far despite the challenges of this insecurity.”
On quite a number of times, I sew you and your Special Adviser on Security go right inside the forest with the members of the Nigeria Armed Forces with you and I said to my friend, my governor is taking too much risk and he said the man is passionate; the man is determined to change and I equally want to add that you have governed not just with the fear of God, you have been fair, just and you have carried every segment of Kogi state as one and you have made us to see each other as brothers and sisters.
“Your Excellency, you are doing so well and am very proud and I will tell you, Your Excellency, that you are passionate in the governance of the state.
“What you have here , this project is setting a new precedent towards protection of lives and property; your colleagues will now have cause to emulate and come to you for lecture and not only that, there are quite a lot of things that your colleagues will ask how are you doing, because whoever that can govern Kogi State peacefully, I think that person can govern Nigeria because you have succeeded in carrying everybody along.
“The day you went to Kogi West in the forest, I saw you in the night, I saw Omodara and I called our people, I said look at this governor in the forest of Kogi West. You touched my heart, that you are actually the governor of everyone of us without any sentiment. We will continue to defend whatever you stand for because you have made all of us to see ourselves as one. This is a landmark achievement when you commit so much resources in the saving of lives and property of people; so, for you to succeed in the socio – economic and political emancipation of the people, their security and property must be guaranteed. What you have done goes beyond Kogi State. You have consolidated Kogi State for APC at the national level and that will bring me to Federal Government. We must thank them for whatever support they must have given you to ensure that goods arrive here; so, we thank Mr President.”
