2027: Tinubu’s Re-election Certain, Says Kalu

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has expressed strong confidence in the re-election prospects of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, declaring that the outcome is already a “done deal.”

Kalu made the assertion on Monday in Abuja while receiving members of the Abia State chapter of the City Boy Movement, led by its Coordinator, Lucky Igbokwe. He attributed his confidence to what he described as the administration’s performance and deliberate efforts to include young Nigerians in governance.

According to the Deputy Speaker, President Tinubu has demonstrated a clear commitment to youth development by appointing competent young individuals into key positions, particularly within the Federal Executive Council. He noted that the administration’s focus on nurturing future leaders reflects a broader vision of building a sustainable political and governance structure for the country.

Kalu described the President as a leader who is more concerned with legacy than immediate applause, adding that Tinubu’s investments in young people contradict the long-held belief that youths lack the capacity to lead. He stressed that such inclusion is essential in preparing the next generation for leadership responsibilities.

He also used the opportunity to urge Nigerian youths to position themselves for leadership roles, emphasizing that opportunities are reserved for those who are prepared and actively engaged in nation-building.

Speaking further, Kalu clarified that the City Boy Movement is not solely a campaign platform for the President’s re-election but a broader initiative aimed at identifying and grooming young talents across the country. He said the movement would play a significant role in shaping future leadership within the ruling party and beyond.

On the 2027 general elections, the Deputy Speaker maintained that the administration would rely on its record of achievements rather than mere political rhetoric. He cited developments in the Federal Capital Territory under the current administration as an example of tangible performance that would resonate with voters.

Kalu also highlighted the role of his support group, Renewed Hope Partners, in mobilizing grassroots support for the President, particularly in Abia State, noting that efforts are ongoing to expand its reach across communities. He pledged to work closely with the City Boy Movement to advance their shared objectives.

Earlier in his remarks, Igbokwe said the delegation visited to seek collaboration with the Deputy Speaker’s office in achieving the group’s goals.

The visit featured the symbolic presentation of the City Boy Movement’s flag and a face cap to Kalu, underscoring the group’s alignment with the administration’s vision ahead of the 2027 elections.
