2027: Traditional Rulers, Stakeholders, Seek Tinubu’s Intervention In Alimosho, Back Ayuba Over APC Reps Primary

Traditional rulers, community leaders, and youth groups in Alimosho Federal Constituency have called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election held on May 16, 2025.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ engagement held on Thursday in Egbeda, Lagos State, the Chairman of the Council of Obas and Chiefs in Alimosho Federal Constituency and Onikotun of Ikotun, Oba Azeez Gbadabiu-Isola, appealed to President Tinubu to intervene, stressing that the incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency, Hon. Ganiyu Ayuba, was the preferred choice of party members.

Oba Gbadabiu-Isola said that upholding Ayuba’s mandate would reaffirm the APC’s commitment to internal democracy and strengthen confidence in the party’s electoral processes.

The monarch also urged the G-18 group in Alimosho not to undermine the party, warning that actions capable of creating divisions within the APC could have long-term consequences.

According to him, individuals allegedly attempting to impose a candidate on party members were not acting in the party’s best interest but rather weakening its foundation.

He further stated that Ayuba enjoys widespread support among residents of Alimosho Federal Constituency, while the candidate being allegedly imposed is largely unknown to many constituents.

Meanwhile, a group operating under the aegis of the Candidate APC Grassroots Movement (CAGRAM) expressed dissatisfaction over what it described as an injustice and a miscarriage of victory in the recently concluded party primaries.

Presenting the group’s position at the stakeholders’ meeting, its representative, Comrade Kolawole Okedara, accused the state leadership of the APC of plotting to overturn the outcome of the primary election, insisting that Ayuba won the contest by a landslide.

He said: “Adebisi Abisco, the preferred candidate of Pastor Ojelabi and his collaborators, did not participate in the presidential primary anywhere in Alimosho. The same applies to the House of Assembly primary. This speaks volumes.

“Stakeholders and members of the APC in Alimosho are not surprised. We know ourselves — both the organic and transactional members — and we are familiar with the antecedents of every group.”

Traditional rulers present at the stakeholders’ engagement included Oba Mudashiru Odejobi, the Aigodo of Agodo; Oba Ashimiu Dada Ota, the Elegbe of Egbe; and Oba Samuel Awoyemi Adisa, the Onimeran of Meranda.
