3 New S-Classes On Global Drive Poses With Racing Legend, The 1969 Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.8 AMG

Three new Mercedes-Benz S-Classes on global drive poses with racing legend, classic 1969 Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.8 AMG. 

Following the World Premiere on 29 January 2026, three new Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedans set off on a global drive.

Developed from 300 SEL 6.3, the 300 SEL 6.8 AMG took part at 1971 24 Hours of Spa endurance race, where it finished 2nd overall and won its class.

Propelled by a bored-out M100 V8 with approximately 428 horsepower, the racing saloon reaches 60 mph from rest in 4.2 seconds.

The three (3) new Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedans currently on a global drive have arrived in Belgium, where they took photos with the racing legend “Rote Sau” (Red Pig), the 1969 Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.8 AMG at the Spa-Francorchamps motor-racing circuit.

Following the World Premiere of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class on 29 January 2026, the three new S-Class sedans set off on a global drive spanning more than 50,000 kilometres across six continents.

While announcing the start of the tour, Mercedes-Benz said that the S-Class sedans will drive through legendary routes and iconic megacities, where they will be joined by classic vehicles, current production models and local fleet cars.

Developed from the 300 SEL 6.3, the infamous Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.8 AMG racing sedan took the world of motorsport by storm at the 1971 24 Hours of Spa endurance race, where it finished 2nd overall and won its class.

Propelled by a bored-out M100 V8 with approximately 428 horsepower, the racing saloon was designed for immense speed, accelerating from 0–100 km/h (60 mph) in approximately 4.2 seconds.

The 1969 Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.8 AMG is considered the first major milestone for AMG, the then small tuning workshop founded by two former Mercedes engineers, but now the high-performance division of Mercedes-Benz.
