Labour Party has extended its warmest congratulations to the Super Falcons, Nigeria’s national women’s football team, on their remarkable victory in the 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) held in Morocco.

In a statement released on Sunday, Sen. Nenadi Usman, the party’s Interim National Chairman, hailed the team’s record-setting title as a testament to their resilience, courage, and indomitable spirit.

According to Usman, the Super Falcons’ win is more than just a sporting achievement; it’s a beacon of hope and inspiration for Nigerians.

“At a time when the nation is weighed down by hardship, hopelessness, and a deluge of disheartening headlines, this uplifting victory brings a much-needed ray of hope and inspiration to our people,” Usman said.

The Labour Party leader believes that the Super Falcons’ victory is a symbolic reminder of what is possible when determination meets purpose.

“It is our firm belief that this win is more than just a sporting feat – it is a symbolic reminder of what is possible when determination meets purpose,” Usman added.

Usman expressed his joy and pride on behalf of the Labour Party family, celebrating the sweet victory with all Nigerians.

“May this moment of national pride herald the beginning of a new chapter of glory and resurgence in our country’s collective journey, despite the suffering and setbacks caused by failed leadership,” he said.

The Super Falcons made history by coming from behind to defeat hosts Morocco 3-2 in the final, securing their 10th WAFCON title. Esther Okoronkwo sparked the comeback with a penalty in the 64th minute, before Folashade Ijamilusi equalized in the 71st minute. Jennifer Echegini sealed the victory with a stunning goal in the 88th minute.
