Attempted child abduction caught on video at Virginia mall; suspect arrested

Authorities in Fairfax County, Virginia , have released chilling surveillance footage showing the moment a man allegedly attempted to abduct a toddler at the Fair Oaks Shopping Centre on July 18.

The video, shared by the Fairfax County Police Department, captures a man calmly approaching a young girl who had wandered away from an indoor play area. He then picks her up and walks off, with the child appearing calm and not resisting.

Police have identified the suspect as 26-year-old Andres Caceres Jaldin. According to investigators, the girl’s mother spotted the man carrying her daughter moments later and intervened before the situation escalated further.

Authorities say Jaldin had allegedly stolen a vehicle earlier that day. That stolen car was later traced to a nearby motel, where officers arrested him without incident.

Jaldin reportedly has a history of legal troubles and documented mental health issues, according to local media sources. The Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office has not released details on the charges he now faces, but officials say the investigation remains ongoing.
