Martha Stewart is the quintessential domestic goddess, although Gwyneth Paltrow is poised be the one to take her baton. Recently Meghan Markle has also positioned herself as a strong candidate to follow in her footsteps, thanks to With Love, Meghan, her controversial Netflix show. “Those are incredibly successful business women, so I don’t take that lightly. That means a lot if there’s any comparison made in that regard,” Markle herself said when asked to about those comparisons.

Now it’s Stewart—who clarified in April that she had not yet seen the Duchess of Sussex’s show— who’s weighing in. “Meghan, I don’t really know very well, and I hope she knows what she’s talking about,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle Australia . “Authenticity, to me, is everything, and to be authentic and knowledgeable about your subject matter is extremely important.” Stewart also commented on the Goop founder. “Gwyneth has been very successful; she created quite an interesting body of businesses. She’s admired. She won an Oscar for heaven’s sake as an actress! She’s pretty powerful.” For her part, Paltrow said in May that she would love to be part of the second season of Meghan Markle’s show.
As much as her show has received fierce criticism and has become the favorite joke of many, the truth is that the products she launches still sell out in record time. As Ever just restocked its acclaimed Napa Valley Rosé, which sold out in just one hour. “We spent so much time making sure we had so much more inventory,” she said on social media. “We’re nearly sold out on everything, and I can’t believe it,” she added.
More than a few media and pundits have praised the quality of her rosé. So as much as it bothers some, it seems that her lifestyle brand, As Ever, knows what it’s doing. Has Martha Stewart tried her rosé? If her tepid statements are a guide, apparently not. Maybe it’s time for Meghan’s gifting team to send a box to the quintessential domestic goddess?
