Peter Obi Decries Lawlessness in brother’s Property Dispute

Former Anambra State Governor and presidential aspirant Peter Obi has expressed deep concern over the ongoing property dispute involving his brother’s property, Next Foods Limited in Ikeja GRA, Lagos, condemning the “brazen impunity” of an individual who unlawfully entered the company’s premises despite pending court proceedings.

In a statement shared on his verified X account on Sunday, Obi emphasized the importance of respecting judicial authority and maintaining the status quo during legal disputes.

Obi revealed that multiple applications, including committal proceedings, have been filed and served in court regarding the matter, yet the unnamed individual continues to act with disregard for the law.

“It is profoundly disheartening that this individual shows utter disregard for both the authority of the court and the sanctity of public order,” he stated, warning that such actions undermine the justice system and set a dangerous precedent for lawlessness.

Highlighting efforts to resolve the issue amicably, Obi noted that he and his younger brother, the Chairman of Next Foods Limited, have repeatedly tried to contact the woman claiming ownership of the property.

“We have spared no effort to reach out with the sincere intention of exploring a peaceful resolution, but she remains evasive and inaccessible,” he said.

Obi stressed that parties involved in legal disputes are duty-bound to respect the judicial process and maintain order until the court rules.

As the case awaits judicial resolution, Obi’s statement highlights his commitment to upholding legal and societal order, urging all parties to respect the court’s authority.

The incident has sparked broader discussions about property rights and judicial integrity in Nigeria.
