Grenade explosion kills three children in Borno

Three children died after a grenade exploded in Pulka town, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared the news in a post on X on Friday.

The victims; Fati Dahiru, Aisha Ibrahim, and Fati Yakubu were playing with a grenade suspected to have been left behind by Boko Haram insurgents when it exploded around 2:20 p.m. on Thursday.

“A team made up of Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD-CBRN), troops from Operation Hadin Kai, members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local hunters quickly arrived at the scene.

“They cordoned off the area and searched for other dangerous devices but found none. The area was then declared safe,” Makama wrote.

“The injured children were taken to General Hospital, Gwoza, where doctors confirmed they had died.

“Their bodies were released to their families for burial according to Islamic rites.”

Authorities urged people to report any suspicious objects to security agencies to avoid such tragedies in the future.
