Operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command have arrested two suspected gun runners and recovered four locally made rifles, four locally made pistols, and four motorcycles in separate operations across the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, noting that the arrests were made following credible intelligence reports.
According to him, on August 5, 2025, around 2:00pm, operatives from the Ikara Division stormed Kurmin-Kogi village after receiving reports about the activities of suspected gun dealers.
The raid led to the arrest of two suspects — Isah Bello and Sa’idu Haruna, both residents of Damdami village in Soba Local Government Area.
“The suspects led detectives to their hideout in a bushy area, where four locally made rifles and four locally made pistols were recovered,” Hassan said.
He added that one of the suspects, Bello, attempted to evade arrest and assaulted a police inspector in the process, injuring the officer’s face. The injured officer is currently receiving treatment.
The police chief continued: “On the 5th of August, 2025, at about 1400hrs, following credible intelligence reports about the activities of suspected gun runners, operatives of the Command From Ikara Division stormed Kurmin Kogi village Area and successfully arrested two suspects namely Isah Bello and Sa’idu Haruna, both residents of Damdami village, Richifa Ward, Soba LGA.
“The suspects further led detectives to their hideout located in a bushy area where four (4) locally made guns and four (4) locally made pistols were recovered.”
In a separate operation on August 7, police detectives from the Dan Magaji Division arrested Shamsudeen Haruna, 36, of Galadimawa in Giwa LGA, over his alleged involvement in a motorcycle-snatching syndicate.
“The suspect was nabbed while trying to sell stolen motorcycles in a local market. Four motorcycles were recovered from him. He confessed to being part of a notorious gang terrorising Zaria, Giwa, and surrounding areas,” the police spokesman added.
Further investigation, Hassan said, led to the arrest of a suspected receiver of the stolen motorcycles, who is assisting the police in ongoing inquiries.
He quoted the State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, to have commended the gallantry of the operatives and warned market leaders to monitor their members to avoid being complicit in receiving stolen property.
“To criminals, keep off Kaduna or you will be arrested. We will continue proactive policing in synergy with the public, military, DSS, and other paramilitary agencies,” the CP was said to have warned.
He also expressed appreciation to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his support, and to Governor Uba Sani for providing logistics and encouragement to the Command. ENDS.
