Fuji Star, Kwam 1 Apologises To FG Over Abuja Airport Incident

Fuji music icon, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has tendered an apology over an incident that occurred at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on August 5, 2025, while denying allegations that he was in possession of alcohol.

In a personally signed statement released on Friday, the veteran musician described the situation as “unfortunate” and clarified that the flask he was seen carrying contained only water, not alcohol, as was speculated in some quarters.

“Unknown to many, I suffer from chronic dehydration, and my doctor strongly advised that I remain constantly hydrated. This is why I always carry a water flask with me,” K1 explained.

According to him, the flask was empty during two separate security checks and was only filled with water at the airport lounge shortly before he proceeded to board.

He emphasized that he had not boarded the aircraft, let alone being deboarded, adding that available CCTV footage could corroborate his account.

“I acknowledge and deeply regret the concerns that arose from the incident. It was never my intention to cause any disruption or violate aviation protocols,” the statement read.

The artist apologised to the Presidency, the Ministry of Aviation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), ValueJet, and Nigerians at large.

He reaffirmed his commitment to upholding national values and protecting the reputation he has built over five decades in the Nigerian music industry.

“My unwavering patriotism and loyalty to the Federal Republic of Nigeria have never been in doubt. I would never do anything to tarnish the image I’ve built,” K1 added.

The Fuji legend also appreciated his fans for their support, stating that he remained committed to his cultural ambassadorial role in promoting Nigerian music globally.
