Kaduna Bye-elections: Police to restrict movements in four LGAs

The Kaduna Police Command has ordered the restriction of movement in Chikun, Kajuru, Sabon-Gari, and Zaria Local Government Areas to ensure the peaceful conduct of Saturday’s bye-elections.

A statement by the police spokesman, DSP Mansir Hassan, on Friday, reads, “The command wishes to announce and respectfully inform the members of the public that there will be a restriction of movement on Saturday, 16th August 2025, from 12:00 am in the following local government areas: Sabon Gari, Zaria, Chikun, and Kajuru.”

Hassan said, “The measure is part of security arrangements put in place ahead of the upcoming bye-elections in the affected areas, with the aim of ensuring public safety, preventing any breach of peace and guaranteeing a smooth and orderly electoral process.”

“Members of the public are strongly advised to comply with this directive as only personnel on essential duties and those with valid election duties will be exempted,” he said.

Hassan stressed further, “The command urges residents to conduct themselves peacefully and cooperate with security agencies to ensure a hitch-free election.”
