Police arrest eight suspects for killings, kidnapping in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command has revealed that it arrested eight suspects in connection with killings, kidnapping, and unlawful possession of firearms in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abutu Sunday, in a statement made available to the Nigerian Tribune on Sunday, said the suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

He gave the names of the suspects as: Sule Dairu, male, 25; Ali Bello, male, 25; Mohammodu Hammed, male, 21; Ali Salihu Medoki, male, 25; Ori Gambo a.k.a. Gambo Alhaji, male, 20; Shaibu Umaru a.k.a. Gahi, male, 45; Ibrahim Abdullahi a.k.a. Rusku, male, 27; and Suberu Lawal, male, 40.

Abutu added that the suspects killed two victims, Mohammodu Ibrahim and Ibrahim Baba, in Ayedun-Ekiti, Ikole Local Government Area of the state in May 2025.

According to the PPRO, “Investigation revealed that on 7th May, 2025, at about 22:00hrs, the gang, numbering about ten, invaded Isah Camp at Odo Ayedun-Ekiti, shot Mohammodu Ibrahim dead, and kidnapped four others. They later killed Ibrahim Baba after collecting ransom from his family members.

“During investigation, all the arrested suspects confessed to the crime and narrated the roles each of them played before, during, and after the incident.

“Some items belonging to the victims, such as one Tecno phone, shirts, trousers, slippers, among others, were recovered from the suspects.”

He revealed that the arrested suspects have been remanded at the correctional centre following their arraignment in court.
