The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has announced plans to sponsor the weddings of 440 Kano indigenes across the state. Senator Barau will also provide the couples with capital to help them support themselves.
This was disclosed by a close ally and associate of Senator Barau, Alhaji Fahad Ogan Boye, popularly known as Ogan Boyen Sanata Barau Maliya.
Addressing newsmen in Kano, Ogan Boye stated that this initiative is part of Senator Barau’s commitment to support the masses and improve their livelihoods. He flagged the beneficiaries as “Ýan Gatan Sanata Barau Maliya.”

According to him, the mass wedding aims to promote Islamic values and principles, while also encouraging the youth to become independent and responsible. Ogan Boye noted that the beneficiaries will be selected from the 44 local government areas of Kano State, regardless of their political affiliations or beliefs.
He described Senator Barau as a champion of Islamic values and a beacon of hope not only for the people of Kano State but for the entire Northern Nigeria.
“Senator Barau, a true Democrat and ambassador of peace and unity, has launched this new initiative. He is set to sponsor the weddings for over 400 people in Kano, covering all expenses from start to finish. In addition, he will empower the couples to ensure their independence. This is a unique initiative by the Deputy Senate President.
“As one of his close allies, I want to assure the people of Kano State and the North that this is just the beginning. Senator Barau is a pro-masses leader who always prioritises his constituents. We should expect more interventions from him aimed at supporting citizens and easing their lives,” he said.
While expressing gratitude to Senator Barau for his significant support for the people, he urged Nigerians to continue to support him and pray for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the overall success of the country.
“The President is doing his best, and we believe his policies are on the right track to restore Nigeria to its glorious days. We must support our leaders and remember to include them in our prayers. This is the only way to achieve lasting peace and development in our beloved nation,” Alhaji Fahad Ogan Boye concluded.
