Kebbi gov appoints new Emir of Zuru

Alhaji Sanusi Mikail Sami Gomo, III, has emerged the new Emir of Zuru.

The official announcement was made today, Thursday, at the Zuru Emir’s Palace by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Garba Dutsin-Mari, who also presented the appointment letter signed by Governor Nasir Idris to him .

He said the Emir’s appointment followed the submission of three names by the Zuru Emirate Council’s Kingmakers to the Glgovernor, in accordance with constitutional provisions.

He added that the Governor in exercising the powers vested in him, approved Alhaji Sanusi Mikail Sami as the new Emir of Zuru, now officially recognized as Gomo III.

In his remarks, the new Emir expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and to Governor Nasir Idris for the confidence reposed in him.
He called on the people to remain peaceful, loyal, and united, assuring them of an open-door policy and inclusive leadership.

He commended the Sarkin Wasagu for his capable stewardship during the transitional period and pledged to continue supporting the people of the Emirate as he has always done.

The late Emir, retired Major General Muhammad Sani Sami (Gomo II), passed away recently in a London hospital and was laid to rest at his residence in Zuru.
