The Arewa Youth Progressive Forum (AYPF) has strongly condemned the recent statement made by former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, alleging that the Federal Government is “empowering bandits” through monthly stipends and food supplies. The group described El-Rufai’s claims as “baseless, unfounded, and irresponsible.”

In a statement signed by Mallam Yusuf Adamu, President, and Kabir Umar Faskari, Secretary of the Arewa Youth Progressive Forum, the group emphasized that the Federal Government’s efforts to combat insecurity have yielded visible results, particularly in Kaduna State. “Communities in Igabi, Birnin Gwari, and Giwa, which previously lived under the shadow of constant attacks, are today experiencing relative peace. Markets are reopening, farmers are returning to their fields, and schools are welcoming children again. This is a testament to the effectiveness of the Federal Government’s dual strategy to combat insecurity,” the statement read. The efforts of our military and security agencies in capturing or eliminating notorious bandits have been widely reported.

The AYPF called on all political leaders to speak with caution and accuracy, especially on matters of national security. Words matter, and careless statements can have severe consequences, including emboldening criminals, discouraging citizens, and diminishing trust in state institutions.

The group urged all Nigerians to rally behind the men and women in uniform and support their efforts to protect our nation. The AYPF remains committed to supporting the Federal Government’s efforts to combat insecurity and promote peace and stability in Nigeria.

“We strongly condemn El-Rufai’s claims and urge all Nigerians to support the Federal Government’s efforts to combat insecurity. We must promote a culture of truth, accuracy, and responsibility in our public discourse,” said Mallam Yusuf Adamu, President of AYPF.

The group extended its commendation to Senator Shehu Umar Buba, Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, for his tireless efforts in mitigating insecurity through non-kinetic actions. Senator Buba’s strategic approach and commitment to addressing the root causes of insecurity have been instrumental in promoting peace and stability in the region. His leadership and vision have earned him widespread recognition and respect, and the group applauds his dedication to ensuring the safety and security of Nigerian citizens.

The AYPF stands with the Federal Government in its efforts to dismantle banditry through sustained operations, strategic engagement, and long-term reforms.
