City Power Johannesburg has implemented a planned power outage that will affect nine suburbs on Tuesday, 9 September 2025.
The power outage is implemented to maintain City Power’s electricity network.
The outage will occur at New Eldorado Park Substation from 8:00 to 14:00 (six hours).

ABI (Coca-Cola)
Freedom Park East

LOAD-SHEDDING FREE SUMMER AHEAD
Eskom has completed its winter 2025 period on the 31st of August 2025, with only 26 hours of load shedding across four evenings, successfully supplying electricity 97% of the time.
The power utility’s outlook for summer, which will last from 1 September 2025 to 31 March 2025, will have no loadshedding.
“This summer represents an even greater improvement compared with the 176 days of loadshedding during the 2023/24 summer, when electricity was available only 17% of the time,” said Eskom.
Additionally, 930MW of capacity is expected from Koeberg Unit 1 when it returns to service following Long-Term Operation maintenance in September 2025.
Eskom Group Chief Executive Dan Marokane said that the free summer outlook is a result of Eskom’s dedication over the past three years.
“This positive projected loadshedding-free Summer Outlook is the result of the progress achieved through the expertise and dedication of the Eskom Guardians over the past three years and the associated support from the government-led initiatives.”
“This disciplined execution and dedication by the Eskom teams have ensured the best winter period performance in recent years and laid a solid foundation for a positive Summer Plan,” explained Marokane.
