Ohafia To Embark On Agricultural Empowerment Scheme

The President General of the Ohafia Improvement Union (OIU) Worldwide, Chief Fab Kalu Uche, has said that the Union is embarking on an agricultural empowerment scheme to create wealth, provide jobs, and ensure food security.
According to him, the OIU has recognised that true empowerment lies in economic independence, and hence, the “Hectare to Hectare” Agribusiness Scheme, which is an initiative designed to secure land, provide training, and offer support for the youth to engage in modern, profitable agriculture, and therefore moving away from subsistence farming to agribusiness.
Chief Uche stated this in his goodwill message during the celebration of the new yam festival (Nri Omume) by the Abuja branch of the Union last Saturday.
He eulogized the OIU Abuja, for consistently being a beacon of unity and progress, which the gathering has demonstrated.
“I am deeply honored to join you today as we celebrate our rich culture, our unique heritage, and the enduring spirit of Nri Omume – a testament to our valor, integrity, and community.
“Today, as we break kola, share meals, and enjoy our cultural displays, let us also remember that our Union is more than just a social gathering; it is the engine room for the development and future of our beloved Ohafia,” he stated.
He also called on every son and daughter of Ohafia, both at home and in the diaspora, to take a keen interest in the activities of the Ohafia Improvement Union, noting that: “Our strength lies in our numbers and our collective will. Attending meetings, paying your dues, and contributing your ideas are not just obligations; they are investments in our shared destiny. Let us move from being spectators to active players in the project of building a greater Ohafia.”
He further urged on every eligible Ohafia indigene that is yet to register anew in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to do so, because it the path to building our community, and “our voice in the political process, which is crucial for attracting development and safeguarding our interests. So, do not let this opportunity pass you by.”
He implored the youth to key into the OIU Worldwide Youth Enterprise Challenge, dubbed “Ohafia Innovate,” that the National Executive has officially launched, which is geared toward securing the future of Ohafia youth.
