Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan Threatens Legal Action Against CNA Over Blocked Resumption

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has warned Clerk of the National Assembly, Kamorudeen Ogunlana, that she will initiate legal action if she is prevented from resuming duties by September 15, 2025.

In a letter signed by her lawyer, Michael Numa (SAN), she accused the CNA of disobeying court orders and cautioned that failure to comply could lead to contempt charges, disciplinary measures, and liability for “instigating a breach of the peace.”

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has issued a stern warning to the Clerk of the National Assembly (CNA), Kamorudeen Ogunlana, threatening legal action if any attempt is made to stop her from resuming legislative duties by Monday, September 15, 2025.

The warning was contained in a letter dated September 10 and signed by her lawyer, Michael Numa (SAN).

“Take notice that failure to comply by Monday, 15th September 2025, will leave us with no alternative but to initiate proceedings against you personally and in your official capacity,” the letter stated.

Numa further argued that the CNA’s alleged refusal to obey an existing court judgment was a violation of the law and the Code of Conduct for Public Officers. He warned that legal consequences would be pursued if Ogunlana failed to comply.

The lawyer added that the proposed steps could include contempt proceedings, disciplinary measures, and holding the CNA liable for “instigating a breach of the peace.”

“We strongly advise that you reconsider your untenable stance and comply with the Constitution and extant judicial orders,” Numa wrote.

This latest development comes after an earlier letter from Acting Clerk to the National Assembly, Yahaya Danzaria, informed Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan that she could not resume because the matter of her suspension was still pending before the court.
