However, she voiced her frustration over his addiction to watching TV, saying he never takes the time to study at home.
Why did Kenyan mum scold son? “What annoys me is that he never sits down to study. After finishing his homework, he switches on the TV and watches it until he falls asleep. Today, I quarreled with him about the issue, as I’m always the one having to ask him to study,” she stated in a Facebook post. The worried mother said her son became upset after the quarrel, started crying, and went to his room, where he wrote something in his journal.
A few minutes later, she followed him and found the journal open on his bed while he was in the bathroom.
“I read what he wrote. How do I mend this? Can I make it up to him, or have I lost him? I know he’s sad. Please advise me on what to do. While scolding him, I mentioned KCPE, which is why he wrote about it in the journal. I know that at Grade Six, they sit for KIPSEA, and at Grade Nine, they sit for KIJSEA. I was so furious with him from morning till evening,” she shared. What did Grade 6 boy write in his journal? The young boy poured his heart out on paper, titling the entry “A Day I Will Never Forget.” He noted that his mother was very ungrateful for saying he does not study enough and would not pass his final exams, despite always making her proud with his good performance.
“She posts about my success, and I give her good marks. I make sure I’m top of my class, but in return, she scolds me and says mean things,” his journal read. The heartbroken boy also revealed that his mother compares him to an American girl, which made him feel awful.

Abraham Gumba:
“What do you want? You’ve said his performance is fine, so what else do you expect? Let the child relax during his downtime. It’s not all about books. If you want, buy him storybooks or comics.” Roze Jodeh:
“I don’t see anything you did wrong, except comparing him to someone else. Never make that mistake, as people have different capabilities. All the best.” Tatu Kadze:
“I’m not sorry to say this, mama, but own up to your mistakes. You’re putting too much pressure on him. Do you know that can make Jack a dull boy?” What did 2 siblings find in late mum’s diary?
