Noah Wyle and Stephen Graham Have Emotional Sidewalk Chat Following Emmy Awards

Two of the biggest winners at Sunday night’s Emmy Awards had a chance encounter far from the glamorous backdrop of a red carpet or an A-list-packed afterparty.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m. PT, The Pitt star Noah Wyle and Adolescence breakout Stephen Graham passed one another on the sidewalk next to production trailers across from L.A. Live where they traded compliments while standing in the center of a small entourage that included their spouses. Graham was especially enthusiastic, praising Wyle’s work on The Pitt as “phenomenal” and adding that he and his wife, Hannah, have been Wyle fans dating back to his days on that other medical drama, ER.

Shortly after the chance meeting, Graham took a FaceTime call with his stepfather, answering the phone by saying “Pops!” It was a sweet moment that followed his emotional acceptance speech during which he praised his stepfather for supporting his dream of becoming an actor. “For me to be here today in front of my peers and to be acknowledged by you is the utmost humbling thing I could ever imagine in my life, and it shows you that any dream is possible,” the native of Kirkby, England told the Peacock Theater crowd. “I want to bring it to my dad for taking me to the video shop when I was a kid and kick-starting my education in film [at] Quarry Green video shop.”

Graham co-created, wrote, executive produced and starred in the Netflix limited series which won a total of eight Emmy Awards including trophies for outstanding limited series, lead actor for Graham, supporting actor for Owen Cooper, supporting actress for Erin Doherty, directing for Philip Barantini, writing for co-creator Jack Thorne, casting for Shaheen Baig and cinematography for Matthew Lewis.

Meanwhile, Wyle won for best actor in a drama series and another Emmy for best drama series as an executive producer. After their sidewalk meeting, the two went their separate ways with Graham heading over to Netflix’s afterparty at Nya West while Wyle went to San Vicente Bungalows for the HBO Max gathering.
