September 16, (THEWILL) — The Nigeria Police Force has invited the Publisher of Daily Nigerian, Mr. Ja’afar Ja’afar, over allegations of criminal conspiracy, defamation of character, and incitement of public disturbance.
The invitation, endorsed by a Kano court, directed Ja’afar to appear before the Zonal Intelligence Department at Zone One Police Headquarters, Kano.
According to a letter dated September 8, 2025, and signed by ACP Bukar Babagana on behalf of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone One, Ja’afar is to report alongside one Mr. Audu Umar.
The letter stated that the summons was “compelled by law enforcement requirements as provided by Section 53(2)a of the Administration of Justice Act, 2015.”
Ja’afar had earlier published a report alleging that the Director-General of Protocol at the Kano State Government House, Abdullahi Ibrahim Rogo, was a thief.
Rogo subsequently filed a legal suit before a Kano court, claiming the publication defamed him, portrayed him as corrupt, and damaged his public image.
After hearing the matter, the court directed the police to investigate the allegations.
The Police said the invitation was part of efforts to ensure a thorough and fair investigation into the case.
