Police arrests NURTW leader for alleged murder in Lagos

Police operatives in Lagos State have arrested a leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Shamusideen Adio, for alleged murder.

The Deputy Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police Command, Babaseyi Oluseyi, confirmed the news in a statement in Ikeja.

He said the 55-year-old has been detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti-Yaba, for discreet investigations into allegations of assault and murder.

Oluseyi added that the suspect allegedly attacked a dispatch rider on Lagos Island with the victim still receiving treatment in hospital.

The statement read: “The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Samsideen Oladiti ‘m’, popularly known as “Shameleon”, aged 55, in connection with two violent crimes on Lagos Island involving a case of murder and another of assault occasioning harm.

“The suspect is currently in the custody of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti-Yaba, for discreet investigation.”
