“Today’s UDA by-election party nominations showed the true spirit of democracy. With Electronic voting, no rigging, no irregularities—just free, fair and transparent polls. Voting was fast; results were instant. This is revolutionary,” said Buzeki Kiprop, UDA politician. Who won UDA ticket for the Malava parliamentary by-election? In Malava Constituency, the primaries followed the death of former MP Malulu Injendi.
The race saw four contenders vying for the UDA ticket, with Kabras West MCA and Kakamega County Minority Leader David Athman Ndakwa emerging as the clear winner.
According to the results, Ndakwa garnered 6,477 votes, followed by the late MP’s son, Ryan Malulu, with 3,783 votes.
Malulu had vowed to continue his father’s legacy and promised development and transformative agendas for the electorate.
Malulu was closely followed by Leonard Shimaka with 1,192 votes and Simon Kangwana, who took the fourth position with 1,064 votes.
Ndakwa, who has served three consecutive terms as MCA, is expected to resign from his current position before being officially nominated as the UDA candidate.
His victory signals strong grassroots support and positions him as a formidable contender in the upcoming by-election.
Who will Ndakwa face in the upcoming contest? He will face stiff competition from other candidates, including Seth Panyako (DAP-K), Edgar Busiega (DCP), and Joab Manyasi (DNA), as the race to succeed the late MP intensifies.
Ndakwa’s win also reflects growing confidence in his leadership and commitment to the people of Malava and Kakamega county, setting the stage for a highly competitive by-election.
However, in Baringo, voter turnout was low, and the nomination process for a new senator to replace the deceased William Cheptumo began late.
UDA is yet to announce its candidates for the upcoming by-elections following the close of nominations.
Wamalwa urges Opposition leaders to rally behind Panyako In other news, Democratic Action Party–Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa issued a direct ticket to Panyako for the upcoming Malava parliamentary by-election.

He called on fellow opposition leaders, including former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, to rally behind Panyako as the joint candidate, mirroring the unified support previously extended to the DP candidate in Mbeere North.
Wamalwa emphasised that the same criteria applied in Mbeere should guide the coalition’s approach in Malava, urging full backing from all partners to strengthen the opposition’s chances in the race.
