A Nigerian man based abroad has gone viral after hilariously documenting the classic experience of African parents downplaying a party.
According to him, his parents mentioned that “ just a few people ” would be coming over, only for a full-blown owambe (party) to erupt in their home.
What was supposed to be a quiet family visit quickly turned into a mini celebration, complete with loud music, food enough to feed a whole community, and family members spilling into both the first and second living rooms.
Apparently, “ a few people ” meant the entire clan . “ Mind you, the second living room was packed with all the wives, ” the man said in the clip, capturing the chaos and comedy of it all.
Social media users couldn’t get enough, flooding the comments with their own relatable takes on Nigerian parents and their not-so-small “ small gatherings .”
