Chelsea poach ex-Spurs chief Todd Kline to lead commercial operations

Chelsea have appointed former Tottenham executive Todd Kline as president of commercial in their latest senior management shake-up.

Kline, who joined the Blues in October 2024, steps into the role vacated by former chief revenue officer Casper Stylsvig, who left earlier this month.

He will now lead Chelsea’s commercial operations and take on the pressing task of securing a front-of-shirt sponsor, with the club still without a main partner for the third successive season. Reports suggest the club is targeting a deal worth at least £60 million ($80million) a year.

The west London club also confirmed the promotion of James Murray to chief operating officer, while Phil Lynch, appointed last year from Manchester United, will continue as chief digital officer, overseeing marketing, content, and product divisions.

In a statement, a Chelsea spokesperson praised the appointments: “Todd and Phil are both steeped in experience and respected in their fields, and we look forward to working with them to drive the club forward. James Murray’s promotion to COO is well-deserved, as he has played a crucial role in the progress we have made across the business.”

The changes mark Chelsea’s second major executive reshuffle in 12 months, following the departure of chief executive Chris Jurasek.
