As preparations reach their peak for the installation of Oba Rasidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, the Oyo State Police Command has unveiled a robust security framework to ensure a smooth and incident-free ceremony on Friday.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Ibadan, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Adewale Osifeso, announced that security protocols had been strategically activated to guarantee peace and order during the historic event.
Describing the installation as “a notable cultural and historical milestone,” Osifeso noted that it is expected to attract a large gathering of dignitaries and guests from across the globe.
“In the light of the expected turnout, the Oyo State Police Command, in conjunction with relevant sister services, has perfected strategies for the execution of extensive security measures,” he said.
According to him, these measures will include “confidence-building patrols, heightened surveillance operations, and intelligence-led stop-and-search initiatives across the length and breadth of the state.”
Particular attention, he stated, will be paid to all entry and exit points into Oyo State, with a strong security presence at the main venue — Mapo Hall — as well as critical public infrastructure such as parks, train stations, and the Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport.
He also disclosed that some key routes around the ceremony grounds will be closed from 7:00 a.m. on Friday, as communicated by the event planning committee set up by the Oyo State Government.
Restricted areas include:
Beere Junction to Mapo Hall
Born Photo Junction to Oja’ba
Idi-Arere Junction to Oja’ba
Itamerin Junction to Mapo Hall
Osifeso urged commuters to plan accordingly and make use of alternative routes to avoid delays.
“The Command issues stern warning against any forms of public disorder, including unauthorised processions and movements within the metropolis before, during, and after the event,” he cautioned.
He further appealed to residents to cooperate fully with law enforcement by following all security advisories and reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via emergency hotlines.
The Command reassured the public of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property throughout the celebration.
