A former chairman of Anka Local Government Council in Zamfara State, Hon. Ahmad Sharu Anka, has left Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji’s faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and rejoined the state chapter of the party led by Senator Abdulaziz Yari and former Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle.
Anka said his decision was driven by the need to unite party members and strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“The party cannot move forward with cracks in its walls. We lost the 2019 and 2023 governorship elections in the state due to a lack of unity. We are no longer ready to take chances in 2027,” he said.
Hon. Jaji currently represents Birnin Magaji/Kaura Namoda Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Reacting to the development, Zamfara APC chairman, Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani, through the party’s publicity secretary, Mallam Yusuf Idris Gusau, welcomed Anka and others back to the fold, describing their return as a sign of progress for the party.
He assured that all returning members would be treated equally with other party faithful, adding that the party leadership has been working to resolve internal disputes before the next election cycle.
“We appeal to other aggrieved members to return and embrace peace with the party leadership,” Danfulani said.
The development comes just a week after thousands of supporters of Senator Garba Kabiru Marafa also dumped their faction to reunite with the state APC leadership.
