A wedding in Egypt ended in heartbreak when the groom collapsed and died while dancing with his bride.
Ashraf Abu Hakam was seen in footage celebrating the joyous occasion in Aswan Governorate on Thursday before tragedy struck.
In the clip, Hakam can be spotted holding hands with his new wife as they danced together in front of friends and family.
Both he and his bride were waving Saidi sticks – a solid pole used in the traditional Egyptian Saidi dance – just moments before disaster.
Hakam was seen in the footage suddenly collapsing on to the ground while holding his wife’s hand.
Guests scrambled around him in an attempt to offer him aid as the clip captured him laying on his back on the dancefloor.
The upbeat music and laughter was quickly replaced with screams and gasps as the wedding venue fell into disarray.
Tragically, attempts to revive him failed and doctors later confirmed he had suffered a sudden cardiac arrest, reports Gulf News.
The heartbreaking incident quickly spread across Egyptian social media, with hundreds of people expressing shock and offering condolences.
‘He was full of life, smiling, excited for his future,’ one friend wrote.
‘May God have mercy on him, and grant him a place in the vastness of His paradise,’ said another.
A third added: ‘His age cannot delay an hour or advance it for his family and wife; sincere condolences.’
Others recalled celebrating his engagement just a day earlier, never imagining the festivities would turn to mourning within hours.
‘I’m worried about this bride, the poor thing, and the talk that will follow her. May Allah grant her patience,’ one more said.
Hakam’s death comes just over a week after a 26-year-old nurse died after falling into a coma at her wedding.
Adna Rovčanin-Omerbegović, a Bosnian influencer and nurse, fell ill at her wedding reception on September 13.
Just hours after tying the knot, Rovčanin-Omerbegović became unwell and was rushed to a local hospital, Bosnian media reported at the time.
While undergoing treatment, she fell into a coma and tragically lost her life just two days later.
