NIS Graduates 689 Cadets In Kano, Announces Border Management Reforms

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) at the weekend commissioned 689 cadets as officers after successfully completing the 50th Superintendent Basic Course at the Immigration Training School, Kano.

During the passing Out parade ceremony, Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, represented at the event by the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board, Maj. Gen. AM Jibril (Rtd), congratulated the new officers on their successful commissioning.

He said Nigeria has entered a new era of immigration management “driven by digital innovation, efficiency, and citizen-centered service.”

He further urged the cadets to embrace professionalism, innovation, and solution-driven approaches in tackling migration and border management challenges.

“The responsibility before you is immense, but so is the opportunity. You must embody the reforms shaping this Service and be part of the solutions to Nigeria’s immigration challenges,” he said.

In her address, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mrs. Kemi Nandap, praised President Bola Tinubu, and the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for their reform-driven leadership which, she said, has been “transforming the Service into a modern, technology-driven agency.”

She urged the newly commissioned officers to live up to the trust bestowed upon them by demonstrating vigilance, firmness, and professionalism in the defense of Nigeria’s borders.

“You are to serve as vigilant, firm, and strong defenders of the nation’s borders, while balancing your duty with courtesy, fairness, integrity, and professionalism,” Nandap charged.

The 689 cadets, now commissioned officers, pledged to uphold the values of the NIS while contributing to the nation’s security and global standing.
