Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appealed to residents to desist from verbally or physically attacking government enforcement officers, stressing that grievances should be addressed through the proper authorities.
The governor made the appeal at the 2025 Stakeholders’ Engagement on Physical Planning, themed “Planning Permit: The Rebirth”, organised by the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority, LASPPPA.
Represented by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Sam Egube, Sanwo-Olu reminded residents that physical planning officials carry out their duties in accordance with established regulations and deserve respect.
“Residents are warned against verbal or physical attacks on officials. Aggrieved members of the public should channel complaints through established government platforms. Civility, dialogue, and adherence to due process are the hallmarks of a functional society that seeks sustainable development,” the governor stated.
He assured that his administration remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the protection of both citizens and enforcement officers while building a more resilient Lagos.
Also speaking, Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Olumide Oluyinka, reiterated the government’s resolve to safeguard lives and property.
“Despite the frequent challenges faced by LASPPPA officials during enforcement, the government will not relent in ensuring that no physical development takes place in the state without the required approvals,” he emphasised.
