A renowned dental surgeon in Ekiti State Hospitals’ Management Board, Dr Clement Owoeye, has appealed to the governor of Ekiti, Biodun Oyebanji and the acting Vice Chancellor of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Professor Olubunmi Shittu to intervene in his son’s academic pursuit, David Owoeye who was denied admission at the university, despite having an aggregate score of 84.
Speaking with journalists in Ado-Ekiti, Dr Owoeye explained that his son scored 300 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME 2025) and an aggregate score of 84 to study Medicine and Surgery at his first choice university for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Dr Owoeye noted that while the aggregate cut off mark is 84.65, he appealed that the fraction of 0.65 should not deny his son from studying his dream course, not even now when only 16 candidates scored above the cut off mark, despite the maximum quota of 50 students for the department in the University, as approval by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCAN) in 2023.
