Former Nigerian Super Eagles striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni and his wife, Yvonne Lameen Ikhana, have reportedly ended their 16-year marriage in what has been described as a “messy” divorce proceeding.
The couple, who married in 2008, allegedly filed for divorce on the grounds of “irreconcilable differences,” with reports circulating that the split was acrimonious and involves claims of infidelity.
Yakubu Aiyegbeni: Popularly nicknamed “The Yak,” Aiyegbeni is one of Nigeria’s most prolific international footballers. He spent the majority of his career as a formidable forward in the English Premier League, playing for clubs like Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Everton, and Blackburn Rovers. He is also the third-highest goal scorer in the history of the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles.
Yvonne Lameen Ikhana: Yvonne is the daughter of legendary Nigerian footballer and coach Kadiri Ikhana, a former international player who also managed the Super Eagles and led Enyimba to win the CAF Champions League.
