Trump sued following deployment of national guard

President Donald Trump has been sued by Illinois and Chicago for sending National Guard troops to the city.

This development comes amid US government shutdown on October 1, 2025, over partisan disagreements on federal spending levels, foreign aid rescissions, and health insurance subsidies.

Donald Trump Sued By Illinois and Chicago
The lawsuit was filed two days after the White House announced President Donald Trump approved sending 300 Illinois National Guard members to Chicago to protect federal officers and properties.

According to the lawsuit, the federal government lacks the legal authority to assume control over state National Guard troops.

However, this repeats a strategy Trump earlier used during protests against US Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Los Angeles and Washington, DC, the country’s capital.

This lawsuit followed after Trump recently filed a $15 billion lawsuit against The New York Times.

Trump alleges The New York Times perpetuated decades of lies against him, his family, businesses, and the MAGA movement, claiming the newspaper’s reporting was both biased and malicious.

It would be recalled that Trump emerged victorious in one of his lawsuits against YouTube, which finally agreed to pay him the whopping sum of $24.5 million.

Trump’s YouTube account was suspended in January 2021 following the US Capitol riots.

The ban lasted till March 2023, after Trump declared his second-term candidacy.
