The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), Engr. Francis Agoha has called on engineers within the company to devise proactive solutions to the challenges hindering effective power supply to customers across the region.
Agoha made this charge during a stakeholders’ forum held in Ibadan, Oyo State, as part of the 2025 IBEDC Customer Service Week. Themed “Mission Possible: Breakfast Meeting with the Managing Director and Key Customers,” the event brought together top executives from various companies and key IBEDC customers to discuss pressing issues and chart a way forward.
Addressing the gathering, Agoha emphasised that every problem has a solution and challenged his team of engineers to take ownership of the issues affecting service delivery.
Francis Agoha said, “We need to start working on the solutions that will enhance our service delivery. For us engineers, there is a solution to every problem. Let us identify the challenges and implement practical solutions.
You need to create an effective relationship with our customers, we must established a smooth working relationship with our business owners, speaking with them and getting feedback about our service delivery, it shouldn’t be a matter of going to them for bill sharing and receiving payment and checks, we need to build a strong relationship that will give us solutions to every issues they have, establish a relationship that will bring effective service delivery.
“Aside from finding solutions to challenges being faced by the key customers, the forum was also to interact and appreciate them for their patronage.
“We want to know their challenges and way forward. We want to make this event a periodic event, so that we can keep track of all action items that have been identified. We hope to make our customers continue to appreciate our supplies and services.”
Agoha, however, said IBEDC customers should expect positive changes, adding that it’s a level of commitment for the management of IBEDC to have had such interaction with Managing Directors and key customers in the region.
“I’m holding my colleagues accountable, we have identified the immediate problem facing the key customers, and we are ready to resolve them.”
In their remarks, some of the attendees of the event showed readiness to collaborate and partner with IBEDC, so as to overcome electricity supply challenges in the region.
