Chimezie Isaac Ukeagbu, Commissioner for transport
The Abia State Government has charged Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIOs) to be professional and apply knowledge gained from a three-day training programme to enhance road safety in the state.
The training programme covered key areas vital to the duties of VIOs including regulatory updates, vehicle inspection protocols, customer relations, and utilisation of modern tools and technologies in road traffic management.
Addressing the officers after the training on Thursday, the Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Chimezie Isaac Ukaegbu, expressed hope that participants would leave the programme not just with new knowledge but with a renewed sense of purpose and responsibility.
“The task ahead is clear: to apply what you’ve learned here to your daily work, uphold the highest standards of discipline and integrity, and serve the people of Abia State with excellence,” the Commissioner stressed.
He also urged the VIOs to continue being ambassadors of road safety and efficiency saying, “Let the impact of this training be seen in your actions and your service to the public.”
The Commissioner thanked participants for their attention, participation and professionalism throughout the training programme.
Ukaegbu wished the participants safe journeys back to their respective stations and expressed optimism that knowledge gained from the training would contribute to a safer and more organised transport system in Abia State.
“Safe journeys back to your respective stations, and may the knowledge gained here contribute to a safer, more organized transport system in Abia State,” he said.
THE WHISTLER reports that the training programme is expected to boost the capacity of VIOs in Abia State to enforce traffic regulations, reduce road accidents and improve overall road safety in the state.
