Minister Matawalle urges promotedofficers to defend democracy

The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, has urged newly promoted officers to remain focused, disciplined, and unwavering in their defence of democracy.

He gave the charge on Tuesday during a decoration ceremony held at the Ministry of Defence, Ship House, Abuja.

According to a statement by his Media Assistant, Ahmad Dan-Wudil, the ceremony was jointly presided over by the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, and Dr. Matawalle.

The officers decorated were Wing Commander Fulus Kaze, promoted to the rank of Group Captain; Wing Commander Ndahiri Watafua, also elevated to Group Captain; and Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Ahmad, promoted to Colonel.

Matawalle congratulated the officers, describing their promotion as a call to higher service, loyalty, and responsibility.

He said, “Your elevation comes with greater expectations. Remain disciplined, patriotic, and always uphold the tenets of democracy in your service to the nation.”

Speaking on behalf of the promoted officers, Colonel Ibrahim Ahmad expressed gratitude to the Ministers for their mentorship and support, pledging renewed dedication to national service.

The event was attended by the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Sunday Musa Attah, directors, senior military officers, family members, and well-wishers.
