A large tree turned into an optical illusion after a cat sneakily concealed itself in the neighborhood scene.
The photo shared to the popular r/FindTheSniper thread on Reddit this week challenged users to ‘spot the cat, not the squirrel.’
It looked like a normal residential street scene with a squirrel climbing up a truck toward the lush foliage at the top.
But hidden in plain sight was a black cat quietly observing its peaceful surroundings from a secret spot.
While the post was listed as an ‘easy snipe’, many people had trouble locating the feline without a helpful hint or two.
Can you spot the cat in less than 30 seconds?
Need a hint?
Its tail is easiest to spot.
Take a look around the right side of the trunk to spot its skinny tail peeking out.
Still can’t find the feline? Take a look at the biggest open space in the foliage.
Did you spot some eyes?
Look near the green leaves and you might spot two green eyes peeking back at you.
The cat appeared to stare menacingly at the camera.
‘Easy once you see it,’ one Redditor commented.
‘Looked into the darkness and it looked back,’ another joked.
The blank space is the entire cat’s body, as it is sitting up straight and peering at the camera.
Even the Reddit user who shot the picture admitted they wouldn’t have seen the cat if they hadn’t watched the kitty climb up to the spot.
How long did it take you to spot the cat?
Optical illusions trick our brains into seeing something that isn’t there or perceiving an image differently than how it’s presented.
The brainteasers test our brain receptors and can help enhance our visual perception, problem-solving skills and give us a mental workout.
