Katsina United chairman, Surajo Umar, says the club is determined to chase a continental ticket this season after their spirited performance against Shooting Stars in Ibadan.
The Chanji Boys have had a mixed run so far in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), with five wins, one draw, and five defeats from their opening 11 games. Their latest 1-1 draw against Shooting Stars at the Lekan Salami Stadium lifted them to 10th place on the league table with 16 points.
“First we thank Almighty Allah for the point, and I must commend my team for their fighting spirit from the start of the game to the end of the match,” the club’s chairman told the team’s media after the match. “We are moving gradually on the table and I wish we can get one of the continental slot this season.”
To appreciate the players’ efforts, the Katsina State Sports Commissioner, Surajo Yazid Abukur, and club chairman, Surajo Malumfashi, jointly rewarded the squad with a cash bonus of ₦520,000 for earning the hard-fought point away from home.
Abukur praised the team for their commitment and assured them of the government’s continued support, urging them to keep improving with every game in the ongoing 2025-2026 NPFL season.
