Paystack Suspends Co-Founder Ezra Olubi Over S^xual Misconduct Allegations

Stripe-owned Nigerian fintech giant, Paystack has suspended its co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Ezra Olubi, effective immediately, amid serious allegations of s^xual misconduct involving a subordinate.

The suspension, announced on Friday, November 14, 2025, follows a wave of public outrage sparked by claims that surfaced on social media on Wednesday, November 12.

Paystack confirmed the action in a statement to TechCabal, emphasizing its commitment to a thorough internal probe.

“Paystack is aware of the allegations involving our Co-founder, Ezra Olubi,” the company said.

“We take matters of this nature extremely seriously. Effective immediately, Ezra has been suspended from all duties and responsibilities pending the outcome of a formal investigation. Out of respect for the individuals involved and to protect the integrity of the process, we will not be commenting further until the investigation is complete.”

The accusations gained traction after a former partner, identified online as “Maki,” publicly detailed emotional abuse and manipulative behavior in a polyamorous relationship with Olubi, including claims of misogyny and sexual exploitation.

This prompted users on X (formerly Twitter) to unearth archived screenshots of Olubi’s old tweets from 2009 to 2017, posted under his handle @0x , which contained highly disturbing content.

Among the resurfaced posts were s^xually explicit jokes about workplace harassment, such as a 2011 tweet reading: “Monday will be more fun with an ‘a’ in it. Touch a coworker today. Inappropriately.”

Others referenced er€¢tions in meetings, desires to photograph a coworker’s thighs, and graphic comments involving minors, bestiality, and even claims of knowingly transmitting HIV and Hepatitis B.

One 2012 post, tied to his “cat lover” bio, included explicit remarks about s^xual acts with animals.

The scandal exploded on X, with hashtags like #EzraOlubi trending nationwide and amassing over 180,000 posts in 24 hours.

Users archived the tweets on X tagging authorities including the Nigeria Police Force and the President’s Office, demanding investigations under Nigeria’s Criminal Code, which carries penalties of up to 14 years for bestiality and child defilement.

An online petition also emerged calling for the revocation of Olubi’s 2022 Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) honor for contributions to technology and youth empowerment.

Olubi, who turned 39 on November 12, has not issued a public response. He deactivated his X account on November 13, and reports suggest he operated a burner account under “Akeem” that began deleting posts amid the backlash.
