A vocal senator affirmed that the deputy president’s position is reserved for the UDA party, given their existing working agreement with the ODM party.
The senator stated that the deputy president’s role in 2027 is settled, and ODM can negotiate for other executive positions.
“I saw some people arguing that in case there are negotiations in the broad-based government, but they should not forget that there are two posts we won’t negotiate about in the likely coalition; the president’s and deputy president’s posts. I want to tell them to go for any other position, but we won’t compromise on those two in any negotiations,” Cherargei said. The UDA senator assured Kindiki that he will maintain the post as a reciprocation for his support of the president.
Cherargei said any political party supporting the broad-based government should eye the deputy president’s position.
He further hinted at Kindiki succeeding Ruto in 2032, stating that the former Tharaka Nithi senator has what it takes to lead the country.
“In any negotiations that will build a coalition going to 2027 and 2032, the deputy president of Ruto will be Professor Kindiki. This will be a thank you to him for standing with our son Ruto. I want to tell my colleagues in the broad-based government or any other side that the two top seats are already gone,” he stated.
