The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has experienced the loss of its polling station chairman for Ninkyiso in Assin Breku due to a tragic motorbike accident that occurred on Friday, November 14, 2025.

The incident took place while the party official was participating in a campaign event for the party’s flagbearer hopeful, Bryan Acheampong.

The deceased, known as Yahya, was riding a motorbike alongside the constituency’s Nasara coordinator, Vilinke Mohammed, when their vehicle was reportedly struck by a speeding motorbike. Both individuals were promptly transported to St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu for emergency medical care.

Unfortunately, Yahya, the polling station chairman, succumbed to his injuries and passed away on Sunday, November 16. Vilinke Mohammed, who suffered a life-threatening head injury, remains hospitalised in critical condition.

A third individual involved in the accident, Kwaku Mensah, who was reportedly en route from Manso to Assin Adiembra for a funeral, also sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the same hospital.

In a statement regarding the incident on Monday, November 17, NPP Constituency Organiser Collins Egyiri remarked, “I was informed about the accident while preparations were ongoing for Mr Bryan Acheampong’s visit to meet delegates today”.
