Governors Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed, alongside the newly elected National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Taminu Turaki, have reportedly driven out the faction loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike from the party’s national secretariat.
The incident followed heightened tensions on Monday at the PDP headquarters in Abuja, where both factions attempted to hold parallel meetings.
According to Politics Nigeria, the National Working Committee (NWC) elected in Ibadan, Oyo State, and the Wike-backed faction had scheduled their meetings for the same day, setting the stage for confrontation.
Samuel Anyanwu, the National Secretary of the pro-Wike faction, arrived at Wadata Plaza with his group, but a violent clash reportedly broke out, resulting in the Wike camp being forced out of the premises.
Despite the fracas, Makinde, Bala Mohammed and National Chairman Turaki eventually gained access to the PDP NEC hall, where they proceeded to hold their NEC meeting.
