The management of Enyimba Football Club of Aba has said that it did not slash the salaries of its players by 50 percent.
According to Enyimba management, no such punitive measures was taken against the players after their 0-1 home loss to Wikki Tourists of Bauchi on Sunday.
Enyimba management, while reacting to reports on social media, described the alleged slashing of players’ salaries as ‘misleading’.
In a statement published on Enyimba’s official social media page, the management of the former Nigerian and African Champions said it never initiated or implemented such salary reduction.
“Enyimba FC wishes to categorically state that at no time did the management approve, initiate, or implement any salary reduction. The club remains fully committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism in its relationship with players and staff.
“This report is purely a figment of the writer’s imagination and should be disregarded by the general public.
“As a professional club, Enyimba FC communicates all official decisions and updates exclusively through its verified channels,” the club said.
According to Enyimba, the media house that circulated the alleged fifty percent salary slash did not verify the claims from the club’s official platforms or management.
