Details have emerged regarding the 47 Federal Unity Colleges ordered shut by the Federal Government in response to the worsening security challenges nationwide.
Earlier, Tori News reported that the Federal Government, in a notice issued to all principals of Unity Colleges by Hajia Binta Abdulkadir, Director of Secondary Education, Office of the Minister of Education, announced the closure of the colleges.
The development follows recent attacks on schools in Kebbi and Niger states, where several schoolchildren were kidnapped.
The notice partly read: “Sequel to the recent security challenges in some parts of the country and the need to prevent any security breach, the Honourable Minister of Education has approved the immediate closure of 47 federal unity colleges.”
The notice added that the closure takes immediate effect.
