Gov Nwifuru emerges BOT Chairman, Forum of Former Presiding Officers of State Assemblies

Governor Francis Nwifuru, of Ebonyi State has been elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Forum of Former Presiding Officers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, a national body comprising past Speakers and Deputy Speakers from the 36 states of the federation.

According to the press statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Monday Uzor, the Forum, a key institution in Nigeria’s democratic landscape, is dedicated to strengthening governance, promoting synergy among former state legislators, and contributing meaningfully to national development through shared experience and strategic engagement.

According to Dr. Uzor, Nwifuru, who represented his constituency in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly from 2011, also served as Speaker from 2015 to 2023 before his election as the 4th civilian Governor of Ebonyi State. The Chief Press Secretary disclosed that Governor Nwifuru’s tenure as a Speaker played a pivotal role in deepening good governance by fostering productive synergy with the Executive arm to ensure that government policies and programmes aligned with the aspirations and welfare of the people.

By emphasis, the emergence of Governor Nwifuru as the BOT Chairman of the noble forum reflects broad confidence in his leadership capacity, legislative experience, and dedication to the welfare of the masses and national democratic growth, which have remained the focus of his administration.
