How Fletcher Vince Otieno died Vince’s friend, Jeff Okopot, told TUKO.co.ke that the comrade from Nyando in Kisumu County He was set to graduate on December 5 from the Cooperative University in Karen, a milestone he had looked forward to with pride.
But on the very day he went to pick up his graduation gown, tragedy struck as the young man died in a road accident.
It all began when, Vince was picked up around Kenyatta Hospital in a car by a friend who was dropping him to pick his graduation gown.
“At around 7 pm, they were driving on a diversion when a speeding pick-up hit them on the side that Vince was seated,” Jeff explained. Vince, who doubled up a local footballer around Kenyatta, died on the spot while the guy who was driving is still in the ICU at Kenyatta Hospital ICU.
Vince’s graduation seat will be empty For many who knew him, this story cuts deeper than most. It is not just about a ceremony he will never attend.
Friends describe Vince as dedicated, warm-hearted, and deeply loved. He worked hard, pushed through challenges, and inspired many along the way.
That he never got to savour the joy he had earned makes the loss even heavier for those left behind.
His unworn gown now symbolises the future he will never live to see, while the vacant seat at the graduation hall will be a silent tribute to a life interrupted too soon.
A heartbreaking reminder of how suddenly life can change, and how dreams can be shattered in a single moment.
